TOBS - Avacado

After having heard so many positive things about TOBS Avocado, I finally got around to trying my sample. And yeah, I can see why it’s getting rave reviews.

Lather-wise, it’ll work up quite nicely with very little water. I ended up using just a few drops more than what was on the brush already. It was nice and thick, providing great cushion (as long as you didn’t go overboard with the water, which is fairly easy to do), and more than plenty slick enough. Provided a great shave, and left the face feeling nice and moisturized after the fact.

The scent is… well, very interesting. TOBS describes it as “a green floral fragrance with watery green and fruity top notes. The heart reveals notes of lily and cucumber, leading to a base of soft woods and musk.” And apparently when you combine all of that, it is very reminiscent of avocados. Now, not exactly mind you, but it’s definitely close, but sweeter and more fragrant. I would say the scent is more pleasant than just a straight avocado scent would be. All in all, I’d say this is one of my favorites. I suppose it’s somewhat of an unconventional scent, but I like it a lot (although apparently the girlfriend does not).

Strength-wise, it makes itself known initially, but does fade a bit during the shave. Still, overall, it’s definitely relatively strong compared to most soaps and creams.

So, overall, a very solid 9/10. I heartily echo all those other recommendations alluded to earlier.
